Directed by Rebecca Meltzer (Svadba, Hansel and Gretel, Ariel, Mansfield Park) this new production celebrates the beauty of Handel’s music coupled with Waterperry’s natural spaces.Dido and Aeneas. Tribal Queen Dido struggles to keep power in her court as Prince Aeneas comes to ask for her hand in marriage and an alliance between factions. Deep in the forest, a gingerbread house conceals a terrible secret...
The Brothers Grimm’s tale of hunger, enchantment, entrapment and rescue has thrilled children and adults for two hundred years. Many adaptations exist but Engelbert Humperdinck’s 1893 opera is by far the most delicious. Charming folksongs and sweeping orchestration cast a potent spell as the siblings Hansel and Gretel venture into the forest to forage for berries, encountering The Sandman, The Dew Fairy and The Gingerbread Witch on their adventure.
This production will be sung in German.
Shakira will be covering all performance dates and will be performing in the public performance on 16th June.

Rosalind
Rosalind by Peter Hugh White
A workshop.
Rosalind is by composer, Peter Hugh White and librettist, Clare Heath. It is about the discovery of DNA by Francis Crick and James Watson and how Rosalind Franklin was involved, but in the end was overlooked when it came to the Nobel Prize which was awarded to Crick and Watson alone. Franklin, apparently, contributed enormously.
