Anarchy at the Opera with Scottish Opera

Presented by SCOTTISH OPERA and NATIONAL OPERA STUDIO
Directed by Emma Jenkins
Conducted by Derek Clark

The 2021/22 Young Artists of the National Opera Studio
The Orchestra of Scottish Opera

Consumed by the irrational and illogical, the exceptional Young Artists of the National Opera Studio return to Scottish Opera to explore the theme of Absurdism.

Through some of the most anarchic and off-the-wall pieces in the operatic repertoire from Les Mamelles de Tirésias to AlcinaCheryomushki to Le Roi Carotte, experience the dread and disorientation of a seemingly meaningless and absurd world, where the value of human existence is questioned.

The Orchestra of Scottish Opera conducted by Head of Music Derek Clark accompanies this semi-staged production of opera scenes, devised, and directed by Emma Jenkins, in an unforgettable afternoon of anarchy and mirth.
